At the Deanery, we offer a broad and exciting curriculum which gives children the opportunity to experience at least two school trips a year. The children always enjoy their school trips and return to school to carry out follow up work.
Year 1 enjoyed a fantastic day at Cannock Toy Museum on Monday. The children took part in a toy exhibition, had a go at using and learning about toys from the past, an art workshop and a toy dance! The children also watched a Punch and Judy puppet show and learnt how people were entertained many years ago. The children had a great time and really enjoyed the trip.
This half term, Year 5 have been learning all about Space for our Science and Creative Curriculum topics. As part of this work we visited the National Space Centre in Leicester. We had a great time and enjoyed looking at all the different galleries. We especially liked looking at the huge rockets in the rocket tower - we had to go up in a lift to reach the top of them! One of the best parts of the day was watching a show in the planetarium - it was all about becoming an astronaut. It was a brilliant day and we learned lots about space.
On the 19th September, Y6 set off on their trip to Quinta. They enjoyed a wide range of activities such as canoeing, archery, tree climbing and low ropes. A trip to Chirk Castle was enjoyed by all on Thursday, as was the creepy walk through a very long dark tunnel! The children were a credit to our school and we received many positive comments from members of the public that we encountered throughout the week. We hope Y6 loved their week at Quinta and that they will treasure the memories they made. Please enjoy the slideshow of photos from our marvellous week!
Last week 6OMG visited London to link with our creative curriculum topic on Parliament (but also for a bit of fun!). As we travelled on the day England played Wales, we became rather patriotic and sang the National Anthem as well as other football chants all the way to Legoland...
Year 3 had great fun exploring Lunt Roman fort on Wednesday. We were guided by a Roman soldier to see the huge circular gyrus that we have been constructing in D&T. In the pictures you can see that the Roman army have two new recruits from Deanery wearing full Roman attire. We learnt about the techniques Romans used during battle and life as a Roman soldier. We even handled a real piece of pottery from Roman times.
