Welcome to the Deanery!
"This is an outstanding school. It cherishes each pupil as a unique individual within a caring Christian ethos, and very effectively supports them in achieving to their full potential." OFSTED 2.7.08
"The distinctiveness and effectiveness of The Deanery as a Church of England school are outstanding". SIAS 9.11.08
I became Head Teacher at the Deanery in September 2002. Our school cares about the education and well being of every child, through a Christian ethos.
I strive, with my colleagues, to create an environment, which combines the best of modern theory with proven traditional teaching methods, so that every Deanery child has the opportunity to achieve his or her full potential. We do this through: -
· supporting children within a caring Christian ethos.
· a broad and balanced curriculum.
· structured and differentiated teaching programmes.
· building good relationships between staff, children, parents,
· governors and the wider community.
· creating happy and considerate children who want to learn
At the Deanery we teach programmes of work, within the National Curriculum, which are continually being updated and modified, to match the needs of all the children. These are most successful with the support of everyone involved. We encourage the children to be involved in their own decision-making through class discussion, self-assessment and an active school council. Parents are made most welcome in school and are kept informed through a fortnightly newsletter, termly programmes of work, curriculum evenings, consultations etc.
Relationships are fundamental in any family and at the Deanery we hope you will find friendship, in a caring Christian environment. Parents and children should feel that they are able to discuss anything with us. We have the children’s best interest at heart and are happy to discuss any issues or worries with you and will do our best to resolve them.
The staff and I look forward to welcoming you to the Deanery where we hope a partnership will develop as your child moves through a significant phase in their education.
Mrs Sally A. Yates
